Psychosocial issues of siblings of children with autism spectrum disorder
Abstract: The aim of this systematic review was to identify extend to which the siblings of children with Autism spectrum disorder were facing psychosocial problems. The review also attempts to understand research carried out in this area so far. Methods: Electronic databases were reviewed in order to critically appraise the 14 articles relevant to the topic. Results: The following variables were considered in this review- Coping, adjustment, issues in relationship, quality of life, and behavioural problems. Conclusion: A need was identified for more rigorous empirical research in this area, which incorporates larger samples and uses randomised design studies to test study efficacy appropriately.
