Effect of omega 3 fatty acids family in human health

Omega 3 fatty acids family is apart from two parts of essential fatty acids that cannot be human body synthesized which have great importance in maintaining human health. This family divided to a group of fatty acids that starts with alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) (C18: 3n-3) and ends with docosahexaenoic (DHA) (22:6n-3). Flaxseed oil is richest plant source of alpha-linolenic acid, while cold water fish is richest source of eicosapentanoic and docosahexaenoic. This family play important role in maintaining heart health and safety of the arteries. In this review we discuses this type of fatty acids, its divisions, its sources and its significance role in human health.
