ABSTRACT: The aim of present study was to identify and characterize the active principles from the leaves of Corchorus fascicularis Lam. For isolation of compounds, the dried leaves powder of Corchorus fascicularis Lam. were subjected to cold maceration using n-Hexane as solvent. Two compounds HEC-1, HEC2 were isolated and purified from chloroform. Mass spectrum of HEC-1 and HEC-2 showed a parent molecular ion peak at m/z 456 which corresponds to molecular formula C30H48O3. The compounds were characterized by using physical, chemical and molecular spectroscopic analytical methods which concluded the isolation of two isomeric phytoconstituents Oleanolic acid (HEC-1) and Ursolic acid (HEC-2). Key Words: Oleanolic acid, Ursolic acid, cold maceration, Column Chromatography. Corchorus fascicularis Lam.
