Toni Morrison’s Contribution and A Representative of Afro-American Race

Toni Morrison is one of the legendary and renowned literary personality produced by the English literature. She brought revolution in the field of literature through her poetic art, visionary force and deep knowledge. As a female writer, she not only highlights the issues and problems of women but men as well. Morrison is rightly called as the mother of Afro-American race as all her writings portrays the severe pain, problems and dilemma of Afro-American people. Mostly, known as a spokes person for blacks, Morrison raise her voice for those Africans who were butchered by their white maters, victims of slavery, racism, sexism, classicism, segregation and various other such related problems. Almost all her writings, such as The Bluest Eye, Sula, Song of Solomon, Beloved, Playing in the Darkness, etc. present the dehumanized, subjugated, brutal, miserable, inhuman conditions of Afro-Americans. Besides this, she was honored prestigious degrees and prizes by different universities. The most vital prize she received from the Noble Academy that was the Noble Prize in 1993. The present paper will deal with the contribution of Toni Morrison in the literary field and the way her writings depict the pathetic conditions of blacks. Moreover, how she acted as the representative of Afro-American race.
