Abstract
Role of regional blocks like epidural neuraxial anesthesia in patients of perforation peritonitis remains to be established. Generally sepsis is considered a contraindication for epidural blockade due to sepsis induced coagulopathy. Hence role of epidural anesthesia in patients of perforation peritonitis is more as an adjunct. It is better to avoid in patients in sepsis however in patients presenting early or with normal coagulation test; it is good alternative and may be considered for use.
