SEMI QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS OF MINERAL OIL CONTAMINATION OF BLACK PEPPER

Mineral oil is added to black pepper in warehouses of Kerala to improve it’s shelf life and lustre.But,it causes health hazards such as mental sluggishness,Malaise,furred tongue ,etc, as a result,it is required to be removed.Home remedies such as Lime and Vinegar could be used for removal.For this,a semiquantitative analysis by Image J software is used to determine how much mineral oil can be removed by these home remedies.
