" उद्योगंपुरुषलक्षणम् " This is a very famous age-old adage which means that an occupation / job is the identity of an individual, which indicates the importance of it in each person?s life. Ayurveda also upholds the importance of occupation as a means and one of the steps in attaining Purusharthas or the ultimate goals in life as decreed by our Indian ethos. The body which is believed to serve as the prime instrument in attaining Purusharthas should not suffer as a result of one?s occupation. Occupational hazards are various diseases, trauma, injuries and other mishaps on multiple levels like physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual that a person encounters because of the chosen occupation. The present study is a preliminary effort to shed light on the occupational hazards, understanding them and managing them through Ayurveda.
