India in the world has the fastest growing GDP and in GSDP contribution of Rajasthan which is geographically largest state of India placed at 7th Rank among all states. As per the reports by 2020 India is among the top three GDP of the World for fulfilling the demand across the world and in country more Engineers/Technocrats are required. The Indian population is blessed more than 50% are below 25 years of age so there is the urgent need to address the problem ailing the technical institute otherwise India/State will miss the opportunity to utilize its demographic dividend of young workforce which it has. For any country engineering education is a basic and essential input for its development, industrial growth, and economic growth and for improving the quality of life of people. For the students (of science stream) and parents the most preferable career option after (10+2) is either Medical or Engineering but from the last 7-8 years the interest of students and their parents diminishing, and they are not considering engineering as good career option and the seats remain vacant in engineering institutes which raises question mark on our technical education system. The gap of vacant seats is increasing rapidly year by year this is a cause of worry for the stakeholders, government and other regulating bodies and authorities. In year 2000 number of engineering college in Rajasthan state are 8 and the growth of private engineering college attained pace after 2000 and 49 more colleges were added in decade 2000-2010. Number of engineering colleges has appeared to impact the quality of education as a result of which the academic standards are not up to par by international standards. We hope this report will initiate a debate and discussion and help catalyze changes that benefit engineering education in India
