Melasma is a commonly acquired hyper melanosis of facial skin due to various etiological factors. Our present research aims to study the patterns and Causative factors (including demographic and socio-economic) in Melasma. Multinomial Logistic Models based on information collected from sample have been fitted for the prediction of risk of development of Melasma. 160 female patients of Melasma coming through out -patient department of Mayo-Hospital, Lahore, Pakistan between Sep,2013 to March 2014 were enrolled. Detailed history and Clinical examination were entered in the pro forma. Clinical examination showed that 95(59 %) patients had Centro facial distribution, 42 (26 %) had Malar distribution and 23 (14%) had Mandibular Pattern. Centro facial was the most common pattern observed in the present study. The exact cause of melasma is unknown. However, many factors have been implicated in the etiopathogenesis of this disorder. Here we try to identify the causative factors and most common patterns of melasma.
