This study focuses on waste management in Abidjan and particularly on those linked to flooding in the municipality of Port-Bouet. Indeed, this city is marked 65% by precarious neighborhoods containing about 80% of its population. These neighborhoods are among the areas at risk of flooding in the city of Abidjan because they have experienced severe flooding in recent years, which unfortunately leaves large quantities of waste after the water recedes. The objective of this study is to analyze the way in which waste resulting from periods of flooding is managed and its impact on the environment. The data collection is based on scientific articles, expert reports, stories and field survey on the nature of the waste, the system for collecting this waste after the water has been withdrawn, and the quality and content of the water. stagnant flooding. Investigations show that post-flood waste is diverse in nature and that floods are accompanied by backflow of black water, contaminants, pollutants and all kinds of debris including household waste. This assembly of waste makes their management more complex and has an impact on the health and living environment of the populations.
