This study analyses the structural anatomy of the morphology of the urban site of Gbagba and Sans Loi and the humanactivitiesthattake place there. Located in the centre of the commune of Bingerville, theseneighbourhoods are twohousing blocks whoseorigins date back to the birth of the town. They are a refuge for the underprivileged in a rapidlyexpandingtownthatseems to have forgottenits original core. Webeganthisstudy by looking at the current state of urbanisation in thesesupposedlydisadvantagedneighbourhoods. The researchmethodologyisbased on documentaryresearch, direct field observation and the use of GPS surveys and satellite imagery. The main findings point to the relativelyuneventopographythatforms the urban base in this part of the city. Land use isdominated by non-standard housing, whichoccupies more than 60% of the surface area of each district. Finally, socio-economicactivities are dominated by small shops and other services.
