This studywasconducted to test the potentialphytosanitaryactivity of aqueousextracts of neem (Azadirachta indica) and castor (Ricinuscommunis) againstjassids (Amrascabiguttula) on cotton. Six phytosanitarytreatmentswerecompared: control with no insecticide treatment (T0), threetreatmentsbased on syntheticchemicalsproductsoftenused in the farmingenvironment (Califan (T1), Polaris (T2), Jazzfire (T3)) and twotreatmentsbased on plant extractsincluding neem (T4) and castor (T5). Aqueousextracts of neem seed (T4) and castor (T5) were as effective in controlling the jassid population as Jazzfire (T3), the best-performingsyntheticchemical. Theseresultswereconfirmed by cottonyields, whichwerestatisticallyequal in the threetreatments T3, T4 and T5, with respective yields of 1248.76  39.15, 1228.34  26.3 and 1211.88  17.22 kg/ha. Neem and castor plant extracts are active biopesticide rawmaterialsthat can beused as alternatives to synthetic insecticides in the control of cottonjassids.
