A PROPOS DUN CAS DE TUMEUR DESMOIDE THORACIQUE : DE LA SURVEILLANCE ACTIVE A LA CHIRURGIE

Introduction:Desmoid tumors, or aggressive fibromatoses, are rare, locally invasive benign tumors with a high recurrence rate. There is no consensus on their management.

Observation: We report the case of a dorsal desmoid tumor in a sixty- six-year-old female patient. After a conservative approach based on active surveillance for over a year, the patient underwent complete excision of the tumor and received no adjuvant treatment. Histological study of the excision specimen confirmed the diagnosis. The evolution was favorable with no recurrence after a close follow-up of 2 years.

Conclusion: Although desmoid tumor is a benign tumor with no metastatic potential, its treatment remains difficult due to its aggressive behavior and infiltrative nature with a tendency for recurrence. Its management is not standardized and must be decided after multidisciplinary consultation. Active surveillance is always encouraged and surgery is recommended in symptomatic or rapidly progressive forms.
