Abstract In Niger, pearl millet and sorghum are the main cereals produced and consumed by the majority of the population. In the Agadez region, agro-climatic conditions are not favorable to the production of these cereals. However, in the region's valleys, wheat and corn are grown under irrigation. The study evaluated the behavior of five varieties of durum wheat (Titricum aestivum) to determine the possibilities of developing the production of this cereal in the Agadez region. The results obtained reveal the presence of significant differences between the varieties studied for different agro-morphological parameters. Thus, the local varieties Elfara and Elkodaraoua have the longest cycle than the improved varieties Norman, Reyna-28 and Sokoll/3/. For the plant height parameter, the Elkodaraoua variety has the longest plant followed by Norman. Similarly, the Elkodaraoua variety recorded the highest grain yield followed by Norman and Sokoll/3/ was the lowest grain yield. This study shows that the varieties used behave differently both in terms of adaptation to climatic conditions and in terms of their development cycle. Local varieties were distinguished by their height but have a longer growing cycle than improved varieties. Keywords : Variety, Wheat, Behavior, Agadez, Arid Zone
