This case report describes a rare situation where a person accidentally swallowed a fish bone. Instead of staying in the throat or food pipe, the bone moved through the tissue and ended up inside the upper part of the thyroid gland, causing an abscess (an infected pocket of pus). Doctors performed surgery through a small cut in the neck and removed the fish bone along with cleaning out the infection. The patient recovered without any problems. The report highlights that although fish bones stuck in the throat are common, it is very unusual for them to travel into the thyroid gland. Such cases need special care and sometimes surgery to remove the bone and treat the infection.
