Background: Immunim tincture was developed from the leavesof A. indicafor the treatment of COVID-19 by the Centre for Plant Medicine Research during the COVID 19 pandemic in Ghana in 2020.The current study seeks to establish phytochemical, organoleptic, physicochemical compositions, and FTIR spectrum of the ethanolic extract of A. indica from three different geographical locations in Ghana to serve as a fingerprint for the product and formulate the tincture into tablet dosage form.
Methodology: Phytochemical, organoleptic, and physicochemical compositions of the extracts, product, and the formulation were determined using standard protocols, while FTIR vibrational spectrum was established using PerkinElmer FTIR Spectrophotometer. Granules for tableting were prepared with Immunim extract and maize starch by wet granulation, and granules were compressed into tablets. Pharmaceutical studies were carried out on the formulation using various pharmacopeial methods.
