This study aims to demonstrate that Impossible de grandir by Fatou Diome is a fictionalized autobiography through the life of Salie, the protagonist of the work, who is in search of a continual rediscovery of herself throughout the narrative. The story in this novel focuses the reader's attention on the hardships of the writer’s life. The objective of this research is to highlight the writing strategies that the novelist employs for the purpose of self-reconstruction. The hypothesis of this reflection is that Fatou Diome's fiction illuminates a significant aspect of her personality; a personality in search of balance. The study employs a psychoanalytic approach to better explore the motives underlying the protagonist's imbalance. It follows that writing appears as a means of self-repair, a healing of the author's wounds.
