Background: According to Ayurveda chronic fatigue syndrome in Geriatric age is associated with an aggravation of Vata dosha, degeneration of body tissues (dhatu kshaya) and accumulation of metabolic toxins(Ama).Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is a debilitating disorder characterized by prolonged and unexplained fatigue, lasting 6 months often accompanied by cognitive dysfunction, sleep disturbances, and musculoskeletal pain. Conventional treatment options are limited, necessitating alternative therapeutic approaches.
Aim: The paper aims to review Chronic Fatigue Syndrome seen in ageing and their prevention and management through Ayurveda. The study discusses various disorders in geriatric age like neurodegenerative changes, Cognitive dysfunction, Diabetes, Anemia Atherosclerosis, cardiac disease, Hypertension, and Infection were discussed andtheir management through Ayurveda was reviewed. The selection of Ayurvedic treatment and procedures which improves the function of Agni,nourishes Dhatu and pacify Vata Dosha are effective in the management of chronic fatigue syndrome.
Result:The study finds the Agnideepan, Amapachak, srotoshodhak, Vatashamaka, abhyang-swedana and Rasayana chikitsa are beneficial for the management of chronic fatigue syndrome.
Conclusion:Chronic fatigue syndrome is common in ageing due to geriatric disorders and can be managed efficiently through Ayurveda.
