THE EFFECT OF SELF- CARE PROGRAM ON THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR PATIENTS WITH SYSTEMIC LUPUS ERYTHEMATOUS

Systemic lupus erythematous is a source of disability that can create a burden of poor life. The quality of life of SLE patients is always worse than that of healthy people. Aim of this study was toevaluate the effect of self-care program on the quality of life for patients with systemic lupus erythematous.
Design: A quasi- experimental research design was utilized Setting:in the department of Rheumatology and clinical out patients at Banha university hospital. Sample: Apurposive sample of (65) all adult male and female patients with diagnosis of SLE. Tools of data collection: Data were collected by using three tools: Tool I:Patients Structured Interview
Questionnaire,Tool II:Lupus quality of life Questionnaire. Tool III: Self-care program for the patients with systemic lupus erythematous.
Results: the majority of the study have satisfactory knowledge post-educational and follow-up program and the majority of them have high quality of life post-educational program and in the follow-up. Also the study releaved that there was a highly statistically positive correlation between the studied patients total knowledge regarding systemic lupus erythematous and total score of lupus quality of life pre-, post-educational program and follow-up.
