ATTACKING POWER ABUSE AS A SOCIO-POLITICAL ACTIVISMIN FRANK OGODO OGBECHES HARVEST OF CORRUPTION

Nigeria, like its other counterparts, appears not spared fromleadership failure with contested political leaders. These leaders do not hesitate to utilize their power to get into dirty affairs in the public sphere.This paper aims, at examining the depiction of power abuse in Frank Ogodo Ogbeches Harvest of Corruption (1997). The current paper draws on the underpinning of the qualitative method, and adopts the postcolonial criticism while it demonstrates how the playwrights cultural and social background informs his characters.The results reveal how characters like Chief-Ade-Amaka, the protagonist of the play, use theirposition of power to indulge into corrupt practices, drug-trafficking and other social malpractices which the writer castigates through a vivid realism and humour.
