Thus, this research article, along with legal literature, provides a philosophical perspective on property in Puranic literature against the background of property division. In this, according to the Dayabhaga branch out of the two main branches of Hindu law related to property division-Mitakshara and Dayabhaga-while accommodating all sections of society, a brief description of the contemporary rules related to property division has been given, in which the rules related to the patriarchal family and stridhan are special. From this study it becomes clear that some Puranas follow the Dayabhaga system as it is, and some, while providing an egalitarian perspective related to labour and inheritance, attempt to give the message that an individual does not have a right over the entire amount of income, but has a right only over that portion by which his maintenance can be ensured; the remaining part belongs to others so that resources can be made available to everyone equally.
