LIVER AND PREGNANCY: EXPERIENCE OF THE GASTROENTEROLOGY DEPARTMENT AT THE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL OF TANGIER (MOROCCO) ABOUT 200 CASES

Introduction: The discovery of liver disease during pregnancy most often corresponds to either a pregnancy-related condition or an intercurrent hepatic disorder. Maternal and fetal prognosis depends on the underlying cause and the timeliness of diagnosis. This study aims to describe the epidemiological, etiological, and outcome profiles of hepatic abnormalities in pregnant women at the Tangier University Hospital Center, and to identify the specific characteristics of our context in comparison with data from the literature. Patients and Methods: A retrospective descriptive study was conducted from December 2019 to January 2023 at the Tangier University Hospital Center. All pregnant women, regardless of gestational age, presenting with abnormal liver tests (cytolysis, cholestasis, or hepatocellular insufficiency) were included. Exclusion criteria were incomplete medical records and patients lost to follow-up. Data were collected from patient records and hospital registries and analyzed using Excel software.
