Background: Somatization in children and adolescents is a common clinical presentation characterized by the expression of psychological distress through physical symptoms. It is associated with significant functional impairment, increased healthcare utilization, and diagnostic complexity. Objectives: This narrative review aims to provide an integrative synthesis of the main risk factors and underlying mechanisms involved in somatization in children and adolescents, within a developmental and biopsychosocial framework.
