Skin stapler vs sutures in bipolar hemiarthroplasty.

Abstract
Hip arthroplasties have gained momentum in the 21st century and are one of the numerous elective surgeries done in orthopaedics. Like every other surgery the risk of infection is there and poses a challenge to orthopaedicians and a dreaded fear among patients. hereby we did a study in 40 cases of bipolar hemiarthroplasties divided in 2 groups of 20 patient each and the skin closure was done by sutures in one group and skin stapler in other.the age of the patients in this study ranged from 50 to 65 years.males formed 60% of the patients.duration from injury to surgery was 3.56 days and average hospital stay was 7.2 days in stapler group and 6.1 days in suture group.outcome was compared according to length of hospital stay and infection rate.
