Improvement of Asphalt Binder by Recycling of Waste Tire Rubber

The aim of present work is to study improving of physical properties of Al-Basra asphalt binder including softening point, penetration and ductility by adding powder of waste tire rubber (WTR) and to get optimum operating test parameters. The effect of adding WTR on improvement asphalt binder had been carried out at different weight percent of WTR (0-30) wt% and mixing temperatureof (150-230)oC.The experimental results have been proven successful improvement physical properties of asphalt binder due to good interacting between particles of WTR and binder. The optimum operating parameters were 20 wt% of WTR and 190 oC of mixing temperature.At optimum operating parameters tested, it can be observed that increasing WTR dosage lead to increasing the softening point and decreasing the penetration point and ductility values. On the other hand, the increasing of mixing temperature above 190 oCaffected negatively on WTR properties.
