Summary of Thesis

Malnutrition is a serious and debilitating condition it is the result of the complex interplay between underlying diseases disease related metabolic alterations and the reduced availability and absorption of nutrients. Malnutrition has been shown to adversely affect patients by increasing the risk of infection and pressure ulcer delaying wounded healing and decreasing nutrient absorption accelerating the loss of muscle mass lengthening of hospital stay and increasing mortality.
