Summary of Thesis

Aim This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of ultrasonographic (US) criteria for the depiction of benign and malignant thyroid nodules by using tissue diagnosis as the reference standard.Materials & methods US scans of patients with thyroid nodules having histopathology diagnosis in some of Khartoum state hospitals from December 2010 to July 2012.Results The study included 92 patients presented with thyroid nodulesthat had have US examination and underwent surgery with biopsy or FNAC. 74 patients (80.4%) were females and 18 patients (19.6%) were males.
