Utility of a pyrimidine thione derivative in the synthesis of new fused pyrimido[4,5-d]pyrimidine, pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine and different types of thienopyrimidine derivatives

Thioxodihydropyrimidine-4,6(1H,5H)dione 1 was exploited as a starting material for the syntheses of fused pyrimidopyrimidine, pyridopyrimidine and different types of thienopyrimidine derivatives such as aminothieno[3,4-d] and [3,2-d]pyrimidine. The characterization of synthesized compounds was done by analytical and spectral studies. The antimicrobial activity of the target synthesized compounds was tested against various microorganisms by the disc diffusion method. In general, the novel synthesized compounds showed a good antimicrobial activity against microorganisms.
