Abstract

The biological activities of ethanolic ziziphus leaves extract as radioprotector agent on some biochemical parameters of male albino rats treated with gamma irradiation doses 4 and 6 Gy were investigated. Experimental results showed a significant increase in liver enzymes (AST, ALT and ALP) and kidney functions (creatinine and urea) in rats serum treated with 4 and 6 Gy. While, significant decrease in total protein, albumin and hematological parameters was observed. Orally administration of ethanolic ziziphus leaves extract for 2 weeks has been found to improve the biological parameters activities. High recovery percentages in liver enzymes and kidney functions were noticed in ?-irradiated rats after treatment. Also, hematological parameters, total protein and serum albumin levels were increased significantly after treatment. The ethanolic extract of ziziphus leaves that orally administrated has been found to be used as a radioprotector antioxidant to avoid the hazards of ?-irradiation that could happened to albino rats.
