Studies on synthesis of quinolinylchalcones as a new class of Anti-microbial agents

A series of quinolinyl chalcones were prepared by Claisen-Schmidt condensation with formylquinonyl and different aromatic acetophenone in presence of aqueous NaOH and methanol at room temperature. The newly synthesized compounds have been characterized by IR and 1H NMR. All the new compounds were evaluated for their antibacterial and antifungal activities.
