Abstract
Diabetes, earlier considered primarily as a high risk factor for cardiovascular disease, diabetes now has become a far above the ground public health concern, due to the increasing epidemic of diabetes in older people, and also the emergence of type 2 diabetes in children. As estimated the number of people with diabetes worldwide is set to double in the next 20 years, as a consequence of increasing obesity and longevity. Newer drugs to treat DM with minimum side effects needs to be developed.
