Abstract
The task of providing justice to all the sections of the society is an essential so as to ensure that the faith of all citizens in the welfare state stays intact. it is also the responsibility of the state to ensure that fair and impartial justice is made available at the door steps of the poor and economically weaker sections irrespective of their caste, creed, religion, geographical position at free of cost. The system of Legal Aid at present we are having in our society is contributed majorly by Late Justice P.N. Bhagwati. The present paper is an attempt to highlight the contribution of Justice Bhagwati in the promotion of Legal Aid in India.
