Synthesis of Potent Antimicrobial Pyrrole Derivatives

Abstract
Several new pyrrole derivatves were synthesized via the reaction of 2,5-dihydro-4,5-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-2-Thioxo-1H-pyrrole-3-carbonitrile with ethyl chloroacetate, chloroacetone, ?-bromoacetophenone, ?-bromo-4-methylacetophenone, chloroacetonitrile or iodomethane to give the corresponding s-alkylated derivatives. In addition, the antimicrobial activity of some selected derivatives was studied.
