Abstract

Familial hypercholesterolemia is an inherited condition that cause high level of LDL and cholesterol levels beginning birth . Familial hypercholesterolemia is run in families in an autosomal manner . In autosomal dominant inherited conditions , a parent who carries an altered gene that cause the condition has 1 to 2 (50 percent ) chance to pass on that altered gene to each of his or her children. There are two types of FH heterozygous and homozygous . Heterozygous occurs when the FH mutation is inherited from one parent , while homozygous occurs when FH inherited from both parents. It?s much rarer . People with this condition have very high LDL cholesterol levels , many need bypass surgery before adulthood .Without treatment , these people rarely into their 20s.
