Wittig approach to the synthesis of cyclopentene-fullerene C60 derivative

Abstract

The one-pot reaction of dibenzoylacetylene and fullerene in the presence of triphenylphosphine lead to the synthesis of 1-benzoyl-3-phenyl cyclopentene-[60] fullerene through Wittig mechanism. The structure of the main product is determined through its MS, 1H and 13C NMR, IR and UV spectral data.
