Water pollution remains an issue that concerns the whole world. That of the coasts is evoked but remains less mediatized compared to that of the consumable fresh water. Therefore, in view of the increasing question of the availability of drinking water resources, this study was initiated with a view to resorting to coastal waters in case of need. After characterization, it appears that the waters of the coast are loaded with salts. They have an average content of sulfate ions ranging from 400 to 1000 mg/L. They are also turbid and have a high biochemical oxygen demand ranging from 100 to 700 mg/L. On the whole, the waters of the Ivorian coastline are not polluted enough to be used for consumption after treatment. But they cannot be consumed without prior treatment.
