Heterotrophic calcificationsare pathologic calcifications of the soft tissue regiondue to any chronic inflammatory cause(dystrophic calcification) or by hypercalcemic states in the body(metastatic calcification) or due to any idiopathic cause. It is usually detected as an incidental finding and rarely appears symptomatic.
