Discussions of the treatment of peritonitis and the evaluation of different therapeutic approaches are hampered by the lack of precise classification (ability).1The advantages of various scoring systems used in other studies like Glasgow coma scale, TNM Staging and APACHE scores in the evaluation of the pathophysiology and in comparing the efficacy of the treatment made one search for a similar scoring system in evaluation of peritonitis.ie., Mannheim peritonitis index.
