Abstract
The study, comparative investigation of the impact of effluent footprint on the Bonny estuarywas to assess the impact of wastewater on the Bonny estuary and its environment by analyzing the physicochemical and microbial parameters of surface water in four different locations and a control point. The study found that almost all locations exhibited some level of contamination, particularly hydrocarbons and heavy metals. The findings underscore the importance of regular monitoring of the Bonny Estuary and its environment to detect changes in water quality that could be detrimental to aquatic life and human health. Therefore, regular monitoring of these locations is necessary to discover changes in water quality that could harm marine life consumed by the human community in these areas.
