DEMOGRAPHIC DIVIDEND OR DEMOGRAPHIC DISASTER: COMPARISON WITH CHINA AND LESSONS FOR INDIA

India 2023 has overtaken China in terms of population. It is the only economy in the world which is going through a demographic dividend. From the 1980s onwards, China took full advantage of the independent workforce and developed a range of products that effectively and efficiently used this valuable resource. It is Indias turn now to take advantage and this, it could do by encouraging labour-intensive technologyin small manufacturing enterprises and self-employment.
