Abstract
Retinal damage due to HSV is severe, with an extensive inflammatory reaction producing yellowish-white exudates and retinal necrosis. We report the case of a 30-year-old patient who presented with a rapidly progressive bilateral visual acuity loss Treatment with intravenous acyclovir halts the progression of retinitis in most cases. Otherwise, foscarnet and other systemic antiviral agents may be indicated.
