Abstract
Background: The globalisation of markets and its many consequences are forcing companies in general, and SMEs in particular, to review their management habits, which can no longer be focused solely on organisational responsiveness to guarantee a competitive position. The aim of this study is to analyse the influence of the owner-managers profile on value creation in Beninese SMEs.
Materials and Methods:Using a questionnaire, we collected data from 160 Owner-managers of beninese SMEs.
Result:Ordinary least squares multiple regression shows that owner-manager characteristics such as gender, level of education, type of training and experience have a positive and significant influence on value creation in Beninese SMEs. However, competence in the field of activity had a negative influence on value creation in Beninese SMEs. Owner-managers should take an interest in their training, in order to ensure value creation and even the long-term survival of their SMEs.
