PRISE EN CHARGE THERAPEUTIQUE DES ABCES DU FOIE A PROPOS DE 40 CAS AU SERVICE DE MEDECINE INTERNE DE LHOPITAL CHEIKH ZAYED

Hepatic abscess is defined as a suppurative cavity related to the invasion and multiplication of microorganisms at the expense of healthy or pathological liver tissue. We report a retrospective study of 40 cases managed in the Department of Internal Medicine and Digestive Pathology at CheihkZayed Hospital in Nouakchott over a period of 3 years from 1 July , 2015 to 30 June , 2018. The sex ratio is 2.3 showing a male predominance, the average age is 41.3 years. 15% had diabetes, 20% had a field of immunodepression. Ultrasound was done in all our patients, abdominal CT was done in 75% of our patients. 80% of the cases had a single abscess. 20% of cases had 2 abscesses or more. The size of abscesses varies between 3 cm and 22 cm. Etiology was hepatobiliary in 5% of patients, portal in 2.5% of patients in our series and no etiology was found in 67.5% of cases. All the cases were put under association of antibiotics, with good clinico-biological evolution. 14 patients benefited from an echo-guided drainage puncture. Four patients drained surgically, three of whom benefited from an associated gesture. The average hospital stay was 9 days, we had only one death.
