Abstract
Type 2 diabetes (T2D), recognized as adult-onset diabetes; a form of diabetes mellitus characterized by high blood sugar (hyperglycemia), relative lack of insulin and insulin resistance. Complete blood count (CBC) is an essential hematological device, used to investigate the study of causes, prognosis, prevention, treatment, control, severity and progressions of many blood related disease conditions. The aim of this study is to determine the role of haematological parameters among type 2 diabetes with/without cardiovascular diseases subjects in Nigeria. The correlations between haematological parameters with type 2 diabetes and hypertension was also determined. Fasting blood glucose was estimated using Spectrophotometry assay Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) test was carried out by reflection spectrometry method using CLOVER A1c Self Analyzer system, flow cytometry method was used to carry out Complete/Full Blood Count, sphygmomanometer was used to measure the blood pressure, and the BMI was calculated by using the weight in kilograms (kg) divided by the square of the height in meters (m2); and questionnaire was administered to evaluates the sociodemographic values. A total number of 140 subjects comprising 103 disease group and 37 control subjects were recruited into this study.
