Abstract

Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) compromises 3-10% of all thyroid cancers and arises from parafollicular C cells.This study reviews the current management of medullary thyroid carcinoma emphasizing the current practice in the preoperative diagnosis and evaluation of patients with MTC, and surgical treatment options for managing the thyroid and neck lymph nodes.
