Abstract

Background :Sleep disorders in children adversely affect cognitive, behavioural, and physical health. Despite well-documented impacts on quality of life, limited data exist on the prevalence of paediatricsleep disorders and their correlates within hospitalized settings, especially among school-aged children. Objectives :To Determine the prevalence of sleep disorders in children aged 5 12 years and to identify common disturbances, examine risk factors and assess the impact on daytime functioning and behaviour. Methodology :This cross-sectional study recruited children within 48 hours of admission to a tertiary health centre. Caregivers completed structured questionnaires based on guidelines by Indian Academy of Paediatrics capturing demographics, bedtime habits, sugar intake, family history, and daytime behaviours, enabling the identification of sleep disturbances and potential correlates in hospitalized children.
