By systematically evaluating clinical practices against established standards, audits help identify areas of excellence and opportunities for improvement. It is very important to understand the purpose, methodology, and impact of clinical audits on healthcare delivery, safety, and accountability. The necessity for a culture of continuous quality improvement cannot be overemphasized.
