Abstract
Helminthiases represent a major public health challenge. Their prevalence remains particularly high in developing countries within tropical regions, where climatic conditions, poor hygiene, and socio-economic precariousness favor their spread. The present study aimed to evaluate in vitro the vermicidal activity of aqueous and hydroethanolic extracts of Gymnemasylvestre and Tacazzeaapiculata, two medicinal plants from Niger, using Lumbricusterrestris as the animal model. The phytochemical profile of the aqueous and hydroethanolic extracts was determined by tube reactions according to standard characterization methods. Biological assays were conducted at concentrations of 40, 50, and 60mg/mL, with albendazole (40mg/mL) serving as the reference substance. Parameters considered included paralysis time and lethal time. The results revealed a dose-dependent vermicidal activity for both aqueous and hydroethanolic extracts of the two plant species.
