The state continues to preserve its rich folk music traditions such as Ramlila, Kajri, Chaiti, Birha, Phagua, and various ritual songs, while also being the birthplace of major gharanas of Hindustani classical music, including Banaras, Lucknow, Agra, Rampur-Sahaswan, and Kirana.
