Abstract

This research paper analyzes the historical roots of self-reliance in Indian music and the emerging landscape of Indie Music (Independent Music) under the present Self-Reliant India initiative. Indian music has always been self-reliant through the guru-shishya (teacher-disciple) tradition, rigorous practice (riyaz), and the creation of indigenous musical instruments.
